KPB is dedicated to the production and sale of phenol, acetone, MIBK, BPA, and epoxy resins, fueling the electrical & electronics, pharmaceuticals, and painting industries. It is a joint venture established with a pool of investment provided by such renowned foreign and domestic companies as Kumho Asiana Group of Korea, Nippon Steel Chemical co., Ltd. of Japan.

KPB launched its phenol and acetone production in 1976, expanded production in 1990 with new technology from U.S. UOP, and built a BPA, MIBK, and epoxy resin plants in 1991 using cutting-edge technologies of the Shell Group of the Netherlands. Furthermore, in order to meet growing demands and sharpen its international competitive edge, KPB built a world-class BPA factory using new technology from Japan's Idemitsu in 2003, and a cumene and phenol/acetone factories using U.S. UOP's new technology in 2005. Such efforts enabled KPB to provide a stable supply of quality products to domestic industries that used to rely heavily on imports, while boosting exports that translated into an improvement in Korea's international balance of trade. Technological partnerships with world-renowned chemical industries and consistent expansion of facilities strengthened KPB's economy of scale catapulting the company into its present status as a visible player in the world.

Significant progress has been made in cost reduction and quality enhancement through factory automation and quality control, benefiting the customers with optimal quality and service.

A well-organized information management system enables KPB to rationalize management and to achieve occupational safety, environment protection and development of employee talents.

Through these incessant efforts, KPB will take the lead in creating a society filled with hope and happiness.
